Sakurako Kaoru (薫桜子 / 薰櫻子 Kaoru Sakurako) is a Japanese gravure model, AV idol and pink film actress. First coming to prominence as an award-winning AV actress, Kaoru successfully made the transition to the theatrically-released softcore pink film genre. She has appeared in award-winning pink films, and was herself given a "Best Actress" award for her work in this genre in 2007.

Life and career

Sakurako Kaoru was born in Tokyo on November 22, 1982.[1] Kaoru is sexually adventurous and became sexually active at an early age, claiming to have engaged in the act nine times one day while she was in junior high school.[2]

AV career

Sakurako Kaoru made her AV debut in the July 2002 Kuki release 101 Litre Girl,[3] and appeared in a Kuki release every month until the end of the year, making a total of six for the studio.[4] Kaoru's 101cm Japanese I-cup breasts were a central focus of her videos. Milky Balloon, her second video for Kuki, featured a scene in which Kaoru engaged in paizuri with a CCD camera.[5] Pudding I Mode (September, 2002) was a story-based video with a supernatural theme. Kaoru played the role of a woman possessed by the spirit of a dead woman who wants to experience life through sex.[6] Kaoru's second three videos for Kuki were all under director Happy Yamada, whom fellow AV idol Milk Ichigo described as a, "really weird man... a really interesting person, very unique."[7] Kaoru's video releases for Kuki were combined into two three-video DVD releases in the "No Cut" series.[8][9]

Her bustline earned Kaoru the "Best Breasts Award" at XCity's 2002 Adult Video Grand Prix.[10] Members of XCity were given access to an interview with Kaoru following the award.[2] Presents awarded to winning members of the site included one pair of panties worn and signed by Kaoru, two signed DVDs and photos, and five signed photos.[11] All members had access to two downloadable 2003 calendars featuring Kaoru.[12] In late 2002 and early 2003, Kaoru appeared in several prominent men's magazines from Weekly Playboy (October 2002) to Flash (January 2003).[13][14]

At the beginning of 2003, Kaoru made her first video for the VIP studio, Very Rare.[15] She also began an association with the Crystal Eizō company at this time, first appearing for the studio in Female Breasts: Sakurako Kaoru (February 2003).[16] That month, in celebration of her joining the studio, Kaoru's panties were the object of one of Crystal's regular auctions,[17] and she was the company's AV actress interview for April 2003.[18] Kaoru appeared in Akibahara, Tokyo in September 2003, for a signing event for Crystal Eizō. In an interview she expressed concerns that no one would show up to meet her, but warmly greeted those in attendance, signing a t-shirt for the winner of a ro-sham-bo contest. After a question-and-answer session, Kaoru shook hands with her fans.[19]

During her AV career, Kaoru appeared at the Tokyo Topless website promoting her nightly appearance during weekdays at a Kabukichō "Soap-pub".[20] Her roles in the popular cosplay genre of AV included Cosplay Maid: Sakurako Kaoru (March 2003) for Crystal Eizō, and VIP Sakurako Kaoru 2nd (June 2003), her second appearance for VIP.[21] VIP's Big Breasted Gal's Costume Play (August 2003) gave Kaoru's audience a view of the actress in flight attendant, nurse, and school teacher attire.[22]

She began appearing for the TMA studio in October 2003 with Fetish Angle Big Breasts.[23] That studio's Big Breasted Step Mom (February 2004) had Kaoru in a story involving a woman whose ex-husband is a member of the yakuza.[24] Kaoru's retirement from the AV world was with Buck-Naked Bomber Boobs Lessons: Sakurako Kaoru's Retirement Work (August 2004, I Energy). In this video, Kaoru played the role of a buxom teacher who arouses the attention of her students and the school staff.[25] Since moving to the V-cinema and pink film genres, Kaoru has appeared in at least one more AV, the June 2005 release, New High School Teacher's Training: Season of Cherry. The video had Kaoru as a teacher and swimming coach who is the subject of a "naughty plan" hatched by three "cherry boys".[26]

Pink film career

Sakurako Kaoru appeared in the V-cinema release Mikosurihan Theater, based on the manga of the same name in June 2004, and left AV for the theatrical softcore pink film genre soon after.[27] In 2005 she co-starred in major AV-idol and pink film actress Yumika Hayashi's last film, Template:Nihongo (2005), by female director Yumi Yoshiyuki. The film was released in September, after Hayashi's untimely death in June,[28][29] and chosen as fifth best pink release of the year 2005 at the "Pink Grand Prix".[30] Yoshiyuki's Big Tit Sisters: Blow Through the Valley (巨乳な姉妹～谷間に吸いつけ～ - Kyonyū na shimai * tanima ni fuitsuke), which starred Kaoru,[31] was chosen as the seventh best pink film released during the year 2006 at the "Pink Grand Prix" awards ceremony. Under the title Template:Nihongo the film was presented at the Yūbari International Fantastic Film Festival.[32] Kaoru's Template:Nihongo was also chosen as the 10th best film at the Pink Grand Prix for that year.[33] In its pink top-ten list for the year, the walkerplus.com film site picked Big Tit Sisters as the sixth best pink film of the year, and another film starring Kaoru, Template:Nihongo,[34] for ninth place.[35] The following year, Kaoru was given a Best Actress award at the "Pink Grand Prix" ceremony for her performance in another Yoshiyuki film, Adultery Addiction: Sensual Daze (不倫中毒　官能のまどろみ - Furinchūdoku: kannō no madoromi).[36]
