Keisha Kerreece Fayeanne Buchanan (born Keisha Kerreece Fayeanne Brown [1] on 26 September 1984 in Westminster, London) is an English singer-songwriter, one of the founding members of the girl group Sugababes and although being the youngest, is the only original member still present. Keisha's family background is Jamaican. Keisha is a cousin of Blue member Simon Webbe.
Career
Sugababes
Keisha Buchanan met Mutya Buena while at primary school in Kingsbury. At the age of thirteen the pair met Siobhán Donaghy at a studio. The three formed a group named Sugababes. In 1998, the Sugababes were offered a record deal and had their first hit in 2000 with Overload. Siobhan left in September 2001 to be replaced by Heidi Range, and Mutya departed in December 2005 (replaced by Amelle Berrabah). Keisha is the only original member of the band that was in the band when it first started in 1998.
Solo career
In late 2006, it was rumored Keisha was leaving Sugababes to pursue a solo career. But in the documentary entitled "Sugababes Uncovered", aired 19 December 2006, Keisha stated that she was not leaving and wished to carry on recording music under the Sugababes name. Keisha also revealed to the presenter, Dave Berry, that she had only met up with Mutya once since she announced that she was leaving the Sugababes and has found it difficult to continue a friendship with Mutya as she now does not see her.
In 2008, Keisha featured on Don-E's Natural album on the song 'Writing's on the Wall'. Ex bandmate Mutya Buena, also appeared on Don- E's album on the track- 'The Time Is Now' Don E is one of the original producers of Sugababes. He loved Keisha and Mutya's voices. Don E wrote the song "ONE TOUCH" which became the name of the Sugababes First album.
Keisha recently collaborated with James Morrison on his latest single "Broken Strings" in an exclusive performance for BBC Children in Need, and again at the Capital FM Jingle Bell Ball.
Personal life
She is a close friend of Leona Lewis, as Buchanan's boyfriend Dean Thomas knew Lewis' boyfriend Lou Al Chalma.
