Beverly "Bevy" Smith (born November 2, 1966 in Harlem, New York) is an American television personality, radio personality, writer, style expert and entrepreneur. She is best known for her work as a co-host on Bravo's fashion-themed talk show Fashion Queens. Smith is the creator of "Dinner with Bevy" and is the host of Sirius XM’s “Bevelations” on Radio Andy. Smith’s memoir, “Bevelations: Lessons from a Mutha, Auntie, Bestie” was released in 2021.
Early Career
In 1989 started out as a receptionist for an Ad Agency and was promoted to Media Planner then to Media Director. [2]
In 1998, Smith was hired as Fashion and Beauty Advertising Director at Vibe Magazine. [3] The following year, Beverly Smith decided to rebrand herself as "Bevy Smith." [4]
In 2004, Bevy Smith was named the Senior Director of Fashion Advertising at Rolling Stone magazine.
Bevy left Rolling Stone in January 2005, with a goal of reinventing herself with an eye toward doing TV.[5] Six months later, she became fashion editor-at-large for Vibe Magazine. [6]
In January 2007, Bevy host the first "Dinner with Bevy", a dinner party series in which she brings together people from across entertainment, fashion and media.
Television Career
Bevy's first TV appearance was hosting the red carpet of the 2003 Vibe awards.[7]
Bevy had a chance encounter with Bravo’s programming chief, Andy Cohen. He cast her on Tim Gunn’s Guide to Style, but she wasn't comfortable with the deal and passed. Not long after, in 2013, Bevy was offered her a co-host position on Fashion Queens. [8]
In 2015, Bevy started hosting a daily, one hour radio show on SiriusXM's RadioAndy called Bevelations. In May 2023, she decided to do the show weekly, on Fridays.[9]
From 2017-2019, Bevy co-hosted the entertainment news show Page Six TV (the television version of the well known Page Six section of The New York Post).
In 2021, Bevy published her memoir Bevelations: Lessons from a Mutha, Auntie, Bestie.[10]. She also played "Aunt Tammy" in 2 episodes of the Amazon Prime original series "Harlem" in which she was also a consultant.
In April 2022, Bevy did a Ted talk entitled "How to discover your authentic self -- at any age".[11]
Personal life
Bevy Smith is single and has never been married, was born and raised and still lives in Harlem, New York, NY and is the youngest of 3 kids[12].
Bevy says she had 34C size breasts in High School and was up to DD's by age 33[13] and that she's a size queen.[14]
