Liv Lindeland (born December 7, 1945 in Norway) is a Norwegian nude model and actress. She was chosen as Playboy magazine's Playmate of the Month in January 1971 and as the Playmate of the Year for 1972. She is famous for being the first Playmate to officially show full frontal nudity.
Early life and Playboy
Liv Lindeland was born in Norway but after paying a visit to the United States in 1965 decided to move to America and pursue an acting career. The Scandinavian beauty started attracting attention as soon as she moved from Boston to Los Angeles in 1969. Playboy selected her to be their Playmate of the Month in January 1971. The magazine’s readers immediately fell in love with her. A year later she was named the 1972 Playmate of the Year.
Pubic hair
Liv Lindeland was the first Playmate, after 216 issues over 18 years, to show full frontal nudity (i.e. pubic hair). Perhaps to divert attention from this monumental salvo in the Pubic Wars with rival pornographic magazine Penthouse, Lindeland's pictorial, photographed by Alexas Urba, focused on her long hair and tantalizing neathage.
Although Lindeland's full frontal nudity generated a tremendous amount of attention, the first appearance of pubic hair in Playboy actually occurred in August 1969 in a dimly-lit pictorial featuring dancer/actress/model Paula Kelly photographed by legendary big-boob fetishist, Russ Meyer.
Later career
Lindeland went into acting following her Playboy appearance, and then segued into a career as a talent agent. She again posed nude for Playboy in the December 1979 pictorial Playmates Forever!
She is the daughter-in-law of dancer Cyd Charisse.
