Early life

Fuentes was born in Cali, Colombia to a Spanish father and Colombian mother. She was raised in Madrid, Spain, under very poor circumstances. Her single mother had no home or a job, so Fuentes wore clothing from charities at a local church and slept at the houses of her mother's friends.[6] She started modeling while in high school and initially performed under the stage name of Zuleidy prior to moving to America and changing her name to Lupe. She dropped out of school so she could work and help her mother.[6]

Career

Fuentes entered the adult film industry in 2007, after launching her own amateur website. She's also the owner of Lupe Fuentes Productions, an adult-film production company. She initially shot her scenes in Spain, but later moved to the U.S. In her early career, she frequently portrayed herself as a barely legal teen, because she appeared to be so young due to her tiny frame (she's only 4'-9"). After she had breast implants in 2008, she changed her name and her image to appear more adult and less like a teen. She was in a relationship for some time with Evan Seinfeld, who was the former husband of Tera Patrick. She was also a contract star for Wicked Pictures.

Controversies

In 2009, a man was arrested in Puerto Rico for the possession of child pornography.He had a DVD called "Little Lupe the Innocent" and was arrested because federal agents thought that Lupe was underage. His case went to trial and a pediatrician testifying for the prosecution claimed that Lupe had to be underage because of how she looked. Lawyers for the defense, however, found Lupe's website and contacted her, and sent her a subpoena so she could testify. She showed her passport in court and proved that she was 19 years old when the movie was made, and the accused was cleared of all charges.[7]

A warrant was reportedly issued for her arrest in March of 2011 by Interpol on behalf of the Colombian government in connection with a child pornography investigation into the activities of her ex-husband, Pablo Lapiedra. Fuentes was accused of recruiting underage girls and falsifying documents for them to appear in his movies.[8][9][10]
