Christy Canyon (born Melissa Bardizbanian on June 17, 1966 in Pasadena, California, USA) is an American porn star.
Early years
Born to an Armenian American father and an Italian American mother, Canyon is the younger sister of author/editor Carla Sinclair. She holds an associate's degree in merchandise marketing. She has been married and divorced three times: to Tom Sinopoli (1993-1994), Jeremy Stone (1996-1999), and Grant (2003-2006).
Career
From 1984 to 1997, Canyon appeared in over 200 porno films. She has won several "best female performance" awards and is a member of the XRCO Hall of Fame.
Upon entering the adult film industry in 1984, Canyon quickly became a sensation with both performers and viewers alike. And quickly rose to become one of the most famous, and well known pornstars of the 1980's. Canyon is best known for her large natural breasts, voluptuous body, natural beauty, and for the fact that she had a significant amount of dark brown pubic hair. Which contributed to her fame, and was something Canyon more or less kept all thru her career. As she is seen in various films from the 1980's to the mid 1990's with varying degrees of pubic hair/bush. Which by the 90's, was atypical among porn actresses.
Canyon primarily engaged in standard adult fare consisting of vaginal intercourse, oral sex, lesbian encounters, and small party group sex during her career. Christy did one anal scene in Swedish Erotica 4, Volume #13, Chapter #11.
She came on the scene at about the same time as Traci Lords, and the two of them almost immediately challenged reigning porn queen Ginger Lynn Allen for the top position in the business. By 1987 Traci was gone - having left the industry after it was discovered she was underage when she made most of her films - and Christy was establishing herself as the #1 fan draw.
The Canyon Video Era
Unfortunately, Christy then decided she needed a break from the industry following the Lords fiasco, and took a 3 year hiatus where she explored other personal interests. In 1989, Christy returned to porn, but only exclusively for her own company, Canyon Video. Which produced such titles as; I dream of Christy, The Coming of Chisty among others. And unlike her previous run with various porn companies of the past, Canyon returned as something of a business woman. Calling her own shots, recieving generous royalties from video sales, as well as personally choosing the actors and actresses she most wanted to work with.
It was also during the Canyon Video era, where Canyon cultivated a taste for well endowed male pornstars, and subsequently selected only to work with the male porn actor pool who were extremely well hung.
Signing with Vivid Video
After a year with Canyon Video, Christy signed with Vivid Video following a very lucrative offer, reportedly one of the most generous contracts at that time, and quickly became even more popular under the Vivid brand. Turning out such titles as; Twisted (a still very popular film with T.T. Boy), A Portrait of Christy, Christy in the Wild (where Canyon has sex with Racquel Darrian's real life husband), the award winning On Trial 2, and Bardot (a film where Canyon requested to work with a light skinned african american pornstar, Jake Steed. Who's penis reportedly measures over 9 inches).
2nd Retirement and Dancing
A few years later, Canyon decided to retire from the industry and from being a Vivid Contract Girl, and explore the world of erotic dancing. According to her book, Canyon immensely enjoyed the opportunities of exotic dancing, which continued for just over a year. And also revealed in her book, that she had infact engaged in a number of 'one night stands' with various men she found attractive while on the road.
It was also during this time where Canyon met Tom Sinopoli, and soonafter got married.
Returning to Vivid
After only a year of dancing on the road, Canyon returned as a Vivid Contract Girl, and began making films in order to become even more of a draw in the dance circuit. As a result and shortly afterwards, she divorced Sinopoli.
Upon re-entering the industry during the mid 1990's, Christy quickly found that the male porn talent pool had dramatically expanded during the year of her dancing hiatus. With many young, handsome, and chisseled porn actors who were not yet present in the industry during Canyon's previous stints, becoming quite vocal to some of Canyon's favourite director's about wanting to work with the legend.
Naturally, Canyon quickly sought out and selected only the more attractive and well endowed porn actors to work with (most of which she had offscreen flings with), and went on to star in several highly successful films for Vivid such as; Comeback (Canyon's comeback film), Sex Secrets of a Mistress, and the Domination Nation series.
In a recent interview on Taylor Wane's radio show, Christy revealed that although she had to engage in "safe sex" on camera with all of her male co-stars during her time with Vivid in the mid 90's as a result of Vivid's then "Condom Only" policy, having protected sex wasn't really something Canyon particularly practiced in her private life, and that she infact preferred and enjoyed having unprotected sex with every one of her male co-stars off camera. Curiously, Canyon specifically mentioned well endowed British porn stud, Mark Davis (who's penis is uncircumsized, and measures 8 inches) as one of the many male co-stars she engaged in unprotected sex with off camera . Which very much suggested to listeners that she really enjoyed her off screen affairs with him inparticular.
Christy Canyon has also revealed in interviews concerning her time with Video Video, that it was not uncommon of her to swallow an entire load of sperm from a male pornstar during offscreen sex. Stating that due to frequent testing, Canyon was aware that her offscreen lovers were clean. And thus willingly swallowed loads sperm ejaculated into her mouth.
Christy and Anal Sex
It was also during Canyon's 1995-1996 stint in the industry that anal sex was quickly becoming more and more popular in the adult industry, as well with a large number of porn actor's.
And although Canyon chose not to participate in onscreen boy/girl anal, which was quite atypical of her with many other adult actresses having already taken the anal plunge at the time, it however has been alluded to by Canyon in recent interviews that she not only enjoyed having unprotected sex off camera, but also regularly engaged in offscreen anal sex with male pornstars during this time with Vivid as well.
Suggesting that the new influx of male porn talent were much more persistant about the act of anal sex, and that even though it was quite a notch on any of the new porn actor's belts to be able to brag that he had sex, and especially unprotected sex, with Christy Canyon, it indeed gave huge bragging rights to those who could actually confirm that they also charmed their way into having anal intercourse with the already "legendary" Christy Canyon.
It should also be noted that during Christy's sex scenes with Vivid at this time, there are many close up view's that illustrate Canyon's quite noticeably enlarged asshole to the viewer.

Final Retirement
In the summer of 1996, Christy retired from both the industry as well from Vivid Video for the final time at the age of 31.
Soonafter, she resumed dancing in the feature dancing circuit and enjoyed tremendous success.
Within a few years, she married Adult Video magazine editor Jeremy Stone. Canyon continued to dance, and after only a couple of years with Stone, their divorce was finalized as well in 1999. It was around this time where she became reacquainted with a man named, Grant. A friend during her High School years. The two dated for years, and finally got married in 2002 after her retirement from the dancing circuit. Although she kept in touch with her fanbase thru porn conventions, selling merchandise on eBay, and concentrating on her website (ChristyCanyon.com).
In 2003, Canyon published her autobiography, Lights, Camera, Sex!. And later participated as a judge on Jenna Jameson's American Sex Star show.
Canyon also appeared on Playboy Television as a sporadic co-host for such shows as Night Calls. Currently, she is working as a host with Ginger Lynn Allen for Playboy Radio, as well as writing a sequel to her first autobiography, tentatively titled, Danger, Curves Ahead.
