Dasha Astafieva is a Ukranian adult model best known as the 55th Anniversary Playboy Playmate for January 2009.
Astafieva first came to notoriety after winning the reality TV show Stars Factory in the Ukraine. This landed her a spot in the all-girl Ukrainian pop group NikitA. Astafieva was soon approached by the Ukraine edition of Playboy to become a Playmate. She accepted and quickly rose to be the Ukraine Playmate of the Year for 2007. Later she also modeled as a Playmate for the Russian and Serbian editions of Playboy.
Dasha was selected to compete for the prestigious position of Playmate in the 55th Anniversary issue of Playboy (U.S. edition). She met Hugh Hefner at a New Year's 2008 party for the contenders. Hef was smitten by Dasha's beauty and sexiness and began spending quality time with her. In early 2008, rumors circulated on the internet and in the National Enquirer that Astafieva was moving into the Playboy Mansion to become one of four live-in girlfriends of the 81-year-old Playboy founder. Hefner at the time was cohabiting and in sexual relatioships with three blonde models -- Holly Madison, Bridget Marquardt and Kendra Wilkinson -- known collectively as the Girls Next Door and starring in the reality TV show of that name. The Enquirer reported that the GND were "terrified" at the prospect of Dasha moving into the mansion.
An unnamed source told the Enquirer: "Dasha's natural endowments and beauty stunned Hugh. Dasha has upset the pecking order by pushing her way into Hugh's heart. The competition for his attention is really intense among the girls because of her." Hef's affair with Dasha was the beginning of the end of the Girls Next Door, with the three silicone sisters eventually moving out of the mansion and breaking up with Hefner. Astafieva was labeled a "homewrecker" by some for her liaison with Hefner. She returned to the Ukraine where she continues performing with the group NikitA.
