In 1957, Kamera the 7 x 5 inch, 36 page, monthly pocketbook, was started with the help of Pamela Green.[2] The photographs in Kamera were retouched, where necessary, to disguise any sign of pubic hair or genitals, to try and avoid the danger of falling foul of the British obscenity law. Kamera No.1 was sold out the first 5 week after it's release. Six weeks after No.1, Kamera No.2 was released and sold a quarter of a million copies. Where it was decided to make Kamera a monthly publication.[3] By the time No.5 came around, both George and Pamela were convinced to make a calender of Kamera which was released in 1958. In 1959, the number of issues per year stated to decline then it's demise in 1968 due to competition such as Playboy, Penthouse and Russell Gay's Fiesta.
