Amanda Laura Bynes (born April 3, 1986) is an American former actress, best known for her work in television and film throughout the 1990s and 2000s.
Bynes appeared in several successful television series, such as All That and The Amanda Show, on Nickelodeon in the mid to late 1990s and early 2000s, and in 2002, she starred in the TV series What I Like About You. She transitioned to a film career, starring in several films aimed at teenage audiences, including Big Fat Liar (2002), What a Girl Wants (2003), Love Wrecked (2005), She's the Man (2006), Hairspray (2007), Sydney White (2007) and Easy A (2010). She was named one of Teen People's "25 Hottest Stars Under 25" in 2006.
In her highly publicized personal life, Bynes has struggled with substance abuse and has faced legal issues. Bynes announced an indefinite hiatus from acting in 2010 as she struggled with various personal problems. She's currently a fashion designer.
Personal life
Amanda Laura Bynes was born in Thousand Oaks, California, on April 3, 1986, the youngest of three children born to Lynn (née Organ), a dental assistant and office manager, and Rick Bynes, a dentist. Her father is Catholic and is of Irish, Lithuanian, and Polish descent. Her mother is Jewish, and was born to a Canadian couple whose families were from Poland, Russia, and Romania.
In July 2010, Bynes announced an indefinite hiatus from acting.
In December 2013, Bynes enrolled at the Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising in Irvine for 2014. In 2018, she received her Associate's of Art degree in Merchandise Product Development and announced her intentions to start a bachelor's degree program. In 2019, Bynes graduated from FIDM.
Controversies
Despite issues a hiatus from acting in 2010 to focus on college, Bynes behaviors made a turn for the worst.
She was charged with DUI in West Hollywood in 2012, and was charged again with reckless endangerment and marijuana possession in 2013 after she was found smoking in the lobby of her Manhattan apartment building while also allegedly threw a bong out the window. Both charges was dropped in 2014, but she still received a three-year probation for her DUI charges.
While also staying in Manhattan, New York in 2013, Bynes took semi-nude photos of herself while covered her breast, revealed that she has breast implant (32C) on Twitter. This was around the time during her latest meltdown which cause a media uproar.
Because of her negative lifestyles, she was placed on conservatorship by her parents (mainly her mother) on August 2013, and would continues until August 2020.
