Adara Michaels was born in Sandusky, Ohio. She began her career as a self-styled promoter. she and partner Ed Marshall began an adult entertainment group called "The Women of Heartbreakers", a review show consisting of 10 women (patterned on traveling men's review show Chippendales) but it fell through when the investors and tour operators fell through. A second show, "Preferred Stock", featuring men and women and an elaborate stage show with props and costumes, also fell through, leading to Michaels filing for bankruptcy.
Becoming a topless dancer in Cleveland, Ohio, she won the preliminary round and a trip to New York City to competed in the "Miss Howard Stern" contest for Stern's New Years Eve special. Though she eventually lost the competition, the exposure led to a number an increased demand for her performances, her increasing her bust line and finding her signature "look".
She and Marshall capitalized on her reputation, hiring hired choreographers and producers from past projects to put together a choreographed show, eventually forming "ScandalouS Duo" with fellow dancer Adrianna. According to the group's now-defunct web site, they began shooting layouts for men's magazines and going on tour, eventually replacing her partner again and again, falling out with one after another, until nearly a dozen women later (several coming back and then being replaced again), the act died.
