Hi. The GFDL template must always be kept. It's not only a link to Wikipedia, but an important (and mandatory) message about Copyright. If text has been copied, GFDL requires that the source be mentioned, even if content is later deleted. Deleted source text can often still be retrieved (via archives), but to do this readers must at least know where it was!
