Christina Rene Hendricks (born May 3, 1975 in Knoxville, Tennessee) is an Emmy Award-nominated American actress, best known for her role as Joan Holloway in the AMC cable television series Mad Men. Hendricks is heavily known for her buxom physique, which was publicized in tabloids during the height of her popularity.
Early years
Christina Hendricks was born in Knoxville, Tennessee, but she was raised in Twin Falls, Idaho for most of her childhood.[citation needed] She got her start acting in Junior Musical Playhouse productions, including Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat.
Career
Beginning in 2007, Christina Hendricks has starred as Joan Holloway in the critically acclaimed AMC TV show, Mad Men. She has guest starred on other notable shows including ER, Without a Trace, and Firefly. Hendricks was named "the sexiest woman alive" in a 2010 poll by Esquire magazine. In October 2010, Hendricks starred in her first mainstream film, playing a supporting role in Life as We Know It
Personal life
Although she is known for her red hair, Hendricks is a natural blonde and has been dying her hair red since she was ten years old. On October 11, 2009, Hendricks married her fiancé Geoffrey Arend in New York City. [1]
