Although born in the city of Caldwell in March 1988, Tana Lea was raised in Austin, the capital of the state of Texas, in a family of Czech descent. She studied biomedical engineering, working as an engineer at Texas A&M University. She was also a child care worker, secretary and assistant in a correctional center, as well as a police station manager.

In Austin she began working as a bartender, a profession that did not motivate her and that led her to move to Los Angeles to become an erotic model.

In California she began working with the Fleshlight erotic toy company, becoming its community manager. After meeting actresses Tanya Tate and Nicole Aniston, both convinced her to try her luck in the porn industry and put her in contact with the OC Modeling agency, which got her her first castings. She debuted as a pornographic actress in 2017, at the age of 29, being her first sex scene with James Deen for Elegant Angel.
