Savannah was born in south Florida and raised in a strict Orthodox Jewish household. She was three years old when her parents discovered that she was hearing impaired. Although she was initially diagnosed with partial deafness, her condition steadily deteriorated to complete deafness by the time she turned 13. Despite this disability, Savannah learned to read lips, speak intelligibly, and communicate in American Sign Language, English, Spanish, Hebrew, and Yiddish.
