:Have we featured any of the classic '50s or '60s models yet? Or a Russ Meyer actress? [[Tura Satana]] maybe? (I've just come across an interview with her that I plan on using for the article... and I think I have another one stashed away somewhere...) Duration
How often will this be happening? Meaning after an article is selected to be choosen, will there be different suggested articles every week, month, etc? Apara 18:22, 2 September 2008 (EDT)
- This will have to be discussed. We simply do not have so many outstanding articles for the time being. But I noticed that a featured article stays quite a while on the front page so far. Must be about several weeks if I looked right. But this can change if users find another article worth replacing the old one I think. It's all up to you... (and to the admins, we need their opinion as they are the ones who are able to change the front page). I think a month is fine. Prophecy 19:34, 2 September 2008 (EDT)
Premature
...I was thinking this whole idea is a little premature. I see we have a few articles that are very good starts, but none yet that I think really deserve showing off as the best work we can produce. Since we're such a small and young Wiki, I think we've all been scrambling around trying to get articles started-- stubs mostly, and more substantial articles on those subjects that hold our particular interest... So, I think this whole idea would be best for improving an article which will, at the end of some alotted time, then be our Featured Article. How about if we pick one article to work on as a group and all of us chip in till we get it up to good quality? And we can all continue starting up our stubs in our own particular interest areas in the meantime. Anyone want to second the motion? (On the other hand, until now we've largely avoided stepping on each others' toes because we have our own individual areas of specialization... Maybe this is a recipe for all-out, total war :-) Dekkappai 21:59, 2 September 2008 (EDT)
- I see that this project already begins to be useful. I like the the idea of picking one article and working on it together. I added a "Suggestion of candidates" section to the project. I did not know the Rosina Revelle article, for example. It may not meet all the criteria now, but if the project serves to collect candidates first and draws the attention of other editors to them who start to further expand and improve them, this is already a good step forward. - By the way: I think that all of the candidates are already better than our previous featured articles. But that's only my opinion. Prophecy 00:35, 3 September 2008 (EDT)
Commercial considerations
Prophecy asked me to comment here about any commercial reasons for choosing articles for the front page. Hexvoodoo handles any affiliate/commercial stuff, but as far as I know the featured articles have been chosen because they had just done interviews with us. I think any decent article should be eligible for featured status. The Honorable 19:02, 5 September 2008 (EDT)
