Wendy Williams (born July 18, 1964 in Asbury Park, New Jersey) is an American radio host, television personality, model and author. Williams is well known for her shows on radio and television.
Early years
Wendy Williams was born on July 18, 1964 in Asbury Park in Monmouth County, New Jersey. Williams was raised in Wayside, New Jersey. In the early 1980's, Williams attended Northeastern University in Boston, Massachusetts, where she earned a Bachelor's Degree in communications. During her college years, Williams was a DJ for her college's radio station WRBB and WXKS in Boston.
Career
After graduation in 1986, Williams got a job as a DJ at WVIS in St. Croix, United States Virgin Islands. After eight months, Williams moved to Washington, D.C., where she was a DJ at WOL-AM. In the late 1980's, Williams came back home and entered the New York market. During her career in New York, Williams worked at WPLJ, Hot 97 and 98.7 Kiss FM. In 1990, Williams got her own show between 6-10 p.m. at Kiss FM. During her show, she was known for her gossiping on celebrities. In 1993, Williams won the Billboard Award for Best On-Air Radio Personality.
In 1994, Williams moved to Hot 97. In 1998, Williams got fired from Hot 97, because allegedly she got in a fight with co-worker Angie Martinez, because of Martinez's romantic relationship with rapper Q-Tip. Williams left the New York area and moved to WUSL in Philadelphia. In 2001, Williams came back to New York and became a DJ at WBLS. Williams' 2-6 p.m. show was rated one of the highest audiences on the radio. In 2006, VH1 premired The Wendy Williams Experience, a gossip show hosted by Williams. On July 14, 2008, The Wendy Williams Show will debuted on several FOX stations.
Books
Williams has released four books during her broadcasting career. All of her books consist details of Williams' life. In 2004, Williams wrote her first book- Wendy's Got the Heat. In 2005, Williams wrote The Wendy Williams Experience. From late 2006 to early 2007, Williams wrote Drama Is Her Middle Name and Is The Bitch Dead, Or What?.
