Goedde and H. Goedde.[3] His mother died on March 22, 2008.[4]
Name
Asked where the "Diet" in his name comes from and how his last name is pronounced, Goedde replied:
- "'Diet' is pronounced just like Diet Coke. I used to be in an experimental punk rock band called Coma Diet. For years, people referred to me as Steve Diet. So when I decided to get serious with my photography, I decided to keep my nickname in addition to using my real last name, Goedde, which is pronounced 'geddy'."[1]
Work
General
Steve Diet Goedde learned the art of photography from his father, amateur photographer Herman F. Goedde.[5]
In 1985, he moved to Chicago and studied filmmaking and painting at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. The biography page of his website states that he "refused to study photography stating that he had already acquired his aesthetic and visual style".[5]
