Monica Anna Maria Bellucci (born September 30, 1964 in Città di Castello, Umbria, Italy) is an Italian actress, fashion and glamour model.
Career
Bellucci originally pursued a career in the legal profession, but began modeling while attending the University of Perugia. In 1988, she joined Elite Model Management and in 1990, made her acting debut on TV. Most of her films are Italian. She played Persephone in the Matrix trilogy.
She has not been shy about appearing nude in films. One scene in Malèna (2000), where a young male actor strips Monica Bellucci's character, Malena, completely naked in a fantasy sequence, was cut from the U.S. release, but is uncut in the original release.
She married in 1999 and divorced in August 2013. She has two daughters.
