Mariko Morimoto (盛本真理子 - Morimoto Mariko) is a retired Japanese adult model. She began as an actress and glamour model in 1987. Unfortunately, she was involved in a case of attempted rape and decided to step away from entertainment industry. Her first and nude gravure and also image video were shot as a memorial. However, she stayed in her acting career thereafter. Besides, several image videos of her were released later. However, as an adult model was well, only a few gravures were published.

Even she took advantage of doing nude in her acting career. But she stopped it after being major role in a film for her first time. Then she played a few more films and TV dramas, and further, her acting career was terminated. As a result, she threw herself into adult model career. Several gravures were published and subsequently she announced to retire. Nevertheless, her newly-shot gravures were published again and she retired in 1999 finally.

There are many versions of the date and place of birth of Morimoto, including 3rd or 8th of September in 1969 or 1971 at Kanagawa, Kumamoto or Hiroshima Prefectures in Japan. Morimoto is quite short and underweight but has a curvaceous body. Her measurements are ordinary in number and her bust size is 34. Morimoto began as an actress in 1987 and made her debut in film, Honba Joshiko Manual (本場ぢょしこうマニュアル). Later, she played in TV dramas, The School Cops (ザ・スクールコップ), Lawyer, Ippei Imada (弁護士・今田一平) of Fuji TV and Lavender Scent from Villainess (悪女はラベンダーの香り) of Asahi National Broadcasting in Japan. At the same time, she started to appear in advertisement on other media and also worked as glamour model of magazines. Even she has never done nude scene at that time. Her body, especially her breasts, have already caught men's eyes.

Unfortunately, she was involved in attempted rape with an advertisement director in a hotel on August 8, 1988. This case was judged on October 17 and widely reported by media. Being the victim, excluding support and encouragement from fans, this resulted in conjecture of aspiration to public attention. Due to such negative report, she decided to step away from entertainment industry. From January to March 1989, shooting of gravure or image video were carried out at Yamanashi and Nagano Prefectures in Japan, Bangkok and Phuket in Thailand as a memorial. Her first and nude gravure and image video also named Loving Forever (ラビング・フォーエバー) were released in May.

Turning Point of Career

Even inside the first gravure and image video of Morimoto, some texts and dialogues which are describing her decision about stepping away from entertainment industry. Afterward she concentrated much on her adult model career. Her image videos, Pretty Girl Hi-Fi Studio Vol. 5: Endless Dream (美少女 Hi-Fi 写真館 Vol.5 エンドレス・ドリーム) and Pretty Girl Video Magazine Vol. 11 (ビデオマガジンベッピン Vol. 11, Cast: Ai Komori, Miku Fujioka, Aoi Shibata, Naomi Shimada, Misaki Nagoya and Mariko Morimoto) were released in June, 1989. Another image video, Melody of Autumn (秋色のメロディー) was released in November. On the other hand, her acting career was suspended for the whole year temporarily.

In 1990, she came back to her acting career and did nude scene in TV drama, The Giant Tower in White (白い巨塔) and film, Technical Virgin (テクニカル・ヴァージン). Besides, her second gravure, Mandala (まんだら) and four of her image videos were released in the same year. Another image video, Pretty Girl Video Magazine Vol. 20 (ビデオマガジンベッピン Vol. 20, Cast: Rie Watanabe, Rui Asama, Tomoka Iwakura and Mariko Morimoto) was released as well. However, Morimoto's part was extracted from her previous image video, Pretty Girl Hi-Fi Studio Vol. 5: Endless Dream. Eventually, she acted as one of the major roles in film, Scandoll (スキャンドール) and this is the last film recorded her nude scene.

In 1991, except a pocket-sized gravure, Are Izen Sore Izen (あれ以前 それ以前) of Moriomto and two others adult models Harumi Kai, Nana Hodaka was published. She stopped doing nude and fully resumed her acting career. She played in TV drama, Noble Cops 2 (刑事貴族2) of Nippon Television and film, Twilight, Mysterious Killing Game (トワイライト・ミステリー 殺しの遊び). Nonetheless, image video, Moonlight Ⅱ (ムーンライト Ⅱ, Cast: Akiho Sendoh, Tomoko Mayumi, Tomoko Takabe, Megumi Yuki, Atsuko Kawada, Masako Takeda and Mariko Morimoto) was released in July, which includes her nude scene in previous image video Slender Venus (スレンダー・ヴィーナス). After playing in TV drama, Sing! The Great Ryūgū-jō (うたう!大龍宮城), the film, Dirge of Technical High School, Boys of Volleyball (工業哀歌バレーボーイズ) in 1992 became the final stage of her acting career.

Once Morimoto stopped doing nude scene. She has not made many photo shoots for magazine. Only one image video, The High Leg Club '92 (ザ・ハイレグ・クラブ '92, Cast: Fumie Hosokawa, Kumiko Hara, Ritsuko Inao and Mariko Morimoto) was released in July, 1992. This is also the only swimsuit image video she did. Other than that, her previous gravure, Are Izen Sore Izen was republished in December, 1992 but no newly-shot gravure was published.

Until December, 1993, her fourth gravure, White Woman (ホワイト・ウーマン) which shot in Los Angeles, California, USA was published. Moreover, she posed nude for magazine again too. At the time, her maturer face and slimmer body consolidated her position in adult model career. In July 1994, her fifth gravure, Perfume (パフューム) and first full-frontal one which shot in Singapore was published. Before that, she never did any such photo even she posed totally unclothed in photos or image videos (This was prohibited by the law in Japan but it was abandoned in 1991). This gravure is a milestone in her adult model career and she became well-known with it.

In connection with posing full-frontal in magazine, Morimoto became even more famous than before. However, she has not resume her acting career and chose to develop her adult model career. Shooting work of her gravure was carried out in Tinian, Northern Mariana Islands. In March 1995, her sixth gravure, Desire (ディザイアー) was published. In addition, two different versions of her image videos which recorded the shooting work of gravure, Desire named The Sad Torrid Zone (哀しき熱帯, Full version of 60-minute length) and The World of Shin Yamagishi (山岸伸の世界, 40-minute version) were released simultaneously as well. However, these are her first full-frontal image videos and also her last ones. In November, another gravure of her named 25 Birthday (25バースディ) was published. Furthermore, unpublished photos from shooting works of her previous gravures, Perfume and 25 Birthday, were cataloged as two photo CDs in her name and Premiere Vol. 1. These two photo CDs were released in 1995 and 1996 respectively.

In Taiwan, Nung Hsueh Company, Limited purchased the copyright of her gravure, White Woman. Its Taiwanese version was released in October, 1995. This is also her only one gravure which published officially outside Japan.

Retirement

After a several of full-frontal gravures were published, Morimoto gained the first success in her career. However, she chose to retire at this moment. Similar to the situation in 1989, she posed nude for gravure, Shusyo (終章) as a memorial. The gravure was shot at Atsumi Onsen (hot spring) in Tsuruoka, Yamagata Prefecture, Japan and published in Oct, 1997.

Surprisingly, her previous gravure, Shusyo (literally means "Final Chapter") has not become her last gravure. One year later, her ninth gravure but not a newly-shot one, Pandora (パンドラ) was published. It cataloged unpublished photos from shooting works of her previous four gravures from 1994 to 1997.

Comeback and Final Retirement

Suddenly, Morimoto was comeback without any presages and her tenth gravure, Last Album (ラスト・アルバム) was published in January, 1999. Besides this newly-shoot gravure, her nude photos were published in magazine too. Once again, this gravure even named Last Album. But it has not become her last gravure. A pre-order form was attached to this gravure for her another newly-shoot gravure, Janus (ヤーヌス). Later, it was published in December, 1999 but can be purchased by the pre-order form only.

In the long run, she retired in 1999 soundlessly. Same as her retirement in two year ago, her twelfth gravure, Venus (女神) which catalogs her unpublished photos from 1994 to the end of her adult model career, was published in June, 2000. Nevertheless, she has no more gravure to be published thereafter.

Digitization of Photos and Videos after Retirement

After Morimoto's retirement in 1999, her digital gravure, Shusyo Digital (終章 Digital) was released in May, 2002. However, it cataloged a few of unpublished photos from shooting work of gravure Shusyo and around one-third of photo from original gravure. Again, two sets of digital photos including unpublished ones from shooting work of gravure Last Album and a few in original gravure, were released in May and July, 2004.

In 2002 and 2006, the films, Technical Virgin and Scandoll were released in DVD respectively. In 2008, her image videos, Slender Venus, Mariko Special and Moonlight Ⅱ were released in DVD as well.
