Shelley Lynn Lubben (May 18, 1968–February 9, 2019) was an anti-pornography advocate and former porn star. She performed in porn under the stage name Roxy in the 1990s, leaving porn in 1994 when she caught genital herpes.[1]
Biography
Roxy grew up in southern California and was kicked out of the house by parents for teenage rebellion which led her to the streets where she became a prostitute for six years and then entered the porn industry in 1993. She eventually contracted genital herpes and left the porn industry. She estimates that she made approximately 30 movies.
Prior to beginning her career in adult film, she was an exotic dancer and prostitute in California.
In 1995 she entered recovery and started has a non-profit organization reaching out to actresses in the sex industry. She supported California legislator Charles Calderon on his efforts to tax the pornographic industry by speaking to lawmakers about her experiences in 2008.
