Sally Sheffield was an adult model. She appeared as the Playboy centerfold nude in May, 1969, in a layout shot by Pompeo Posar; he later remarked, "Sally was an interesting lady, so smart" and noted that she was two months pregnant at the time of her shooting. Daughter of a pawnbroker, she received a bachelor's degree in psychology at Wellesley College, then went on to take a masters in musicology at the New England Conservatory of Music. Fluent in French and Hebrew, she subsequently spent six months on a kibbutz in Israel, then returned to New York where, in 1965-66, she appeared on and wrote the music for an NBC-TV childrens' series called The First Look. When asked why she wanted to be a Playmate, "Sheffield candidly replied, 'because it would be monetarily rewarding...'." A younger sister, Anita Sheffield, also did some nude modeling.
