:Sure, keep on as you're doing, you'll learn the details as you go. I'd say, Title, issue, month, year and page number are sufficient for listings. You can always add more detail, or fancier citations, later if you want. Prophecy's a pretty busy guy, but he's very generous with his time. Also, one thing on talk pages, after your message type four tildes (<nowiki>~~~~</nowiki>), and it will leave your name and a time-stamp. My philosophy has always been that the content-- the information-- is most important. Someone else can come along and clean it up later, or not, but still it's the information that really matters. Welcome

Hello, DaleCooper, and welcome to Boobpedia. I hope you stick around and continue to contribute here. Thanks for adding the information on magazine appearances for the '50s and '60s models, I think this kind of information is very valuable. Do you have a source (a secondary source) for these entries? Or are you working off a collection of the magazines themselves? If you're working off a secondary source, it would be good to note that in the lists. Anyway, keep up the good work! Cheers! Nice! Maybe we'll be treated to some scans or quotes later on? Keep up the great work. Dekkappai 01:03, 17 September 2008 (EDT)

Thanks for the feedback! I do have some general references that I used to compile an index earlier on in my collection process. Is there a place to add general references? I think the thing to do would be to add a Fling magazine page itself, the references could be there. There will definitely be scans and quotes in the future.

Right-- Wikipedia frowns on primary sources (the actual magazines themselves, as you're using-- they say, no, the magazine itself is not evidence that so&so appeared in that magazine... we need a separate source which says she appeared in that magazine...), but I think here, actually, we should encourage this. How to cite them though? User:Prophecy is the resident expert on format and citations, so you might ask him to be sure. But here are some templates that I use: For magazines & journals, something like:
  • <ref>{{cite journal | title = Atsuko Kudo - The Ladies Love It! | journal = Marquis | issue = 39 | month = January | year = 1982 | pages = 56-62 | format = Flash, Reprint}}</ref>
(just copy the code and replace the paramaters. The article will need a {{reflist}} section to display the information in a footnote. For books, I usually use a citation format like this:
  • <ref>{{cite book |last=Weisser|first=Thomas|coauthors=Yuko Mihara Weisser|title=Japanese Cinema Encyclopedia: The Sex Films|pages=p. |year=1998|publisher=Vital Books : Asian Cult Cinema Publications|location=Miami|isbn=1-889288-52-7}}</ref> Also, for online sources, I use something like this:
  • <ref>{{cite web |url=http://wc03.allmovie.com/cg/avg.dll?p=avg&sql=1:249621|title=Apartment Wife: Mid-Afternoon Love Affair|accessdate=2026-06-04|last=Firsching|first=Robert|publisher=[[All Movie Guide]]|language=English}}</ref> If this is all new to you, feel free to enter the data however you want, and I'm sure I or someone else will be happy to polish it for you. Or just keep on as you're doing, and we'll assume the data is from the magazines. You can add more detail to the citations later if you want. Dekkappai 01:31, 17 September 2008 (EDT)

It IS all kind of new to me. I'll try to figure it out. I think it may be too labor-intensive for me to do this kind of reference for each model entry however, so I still think the best idea is to add a Fling Magazine page itself and consolidate the references there. I don't see any magazine pages on site though. Do you think that would be easy, and acceptable, to add?

Additionally I could easily provide all relevant page references to somebody experienced who'd be able to format the citations correctly. I will definitely alert Prophecy to the matter and ask advice. I'll see if I can figure out how to start a new talk page! Ha!
