Stacia joined the band in 1971, and true to this band's rather chemically-influenced history, accounts vary as to how and why she began working with the band. Liner notes to ''In Search of Space'' seem to indicate that poet and lyricist Robert Calvert was somehow involved; other sources state that she was a friend of Nik Turner, saxophonist and flautist for the bandIn an interview in British music magazine ''Melody Maker'', Stacia herself stated that she simply showed up and was inspired to dance by the band's music. In any case, she joined the "crew" in 1971 and immediately became an integral part of the group.
Hawkwind in the seventies was regarded as the alternative society's standard bearers, heavily chemically-influenced, and always willing to play benefit concerts and free gigs. Stacia was living in the Devon area in the early 1970's and ran away from home, sleeping rough on the beaches. She attended Hawkwind's gigs in the region and after one of them , she went backstage and asked if she could danceThey jokingly said "sure, providing you take off all your clothes." The band were quite surprised when she actually did! After this, she began to perform regularly at their gigs in the West  Country, joining the band in 1971 and immediately became an integral part of the group.

Stacia was six feet tall, an attractive and imposing figure of a woman by any standard, and often augmented her visual impact by performing clad only in iridescent or luminescent paint. She regarded what she did with the band as interpretive dance, and was an integral part of the early to mid-1970s Hawkwind experience, particularly during the ''Space Ritual'' era, widely considered to be the group's high point.

Stacia's subsequent life since leaving Hawkwind is somewhat of a mystery, and there are conflicting answers to the question, "where is she now?"  Stacia apparently married not long after leaving the band, and also was reportedly involved with Arthur Kane of the New York Dolls at some point.
Stacia left the band when she married drummer Roy Dyke of the band Ashford, Gardner and Dyke, in 1975. Subsequently, she lived in Hamburg for a while and apparently did some modeling. She is now living in Ireland and working as an artist. The writer of this edit can confirm this. I e-mailed her and asked if she was, indeed, the same Stacia.

In the October 2000 issue of ''Classic Rock'' magazine, former Hawkwind manager Doug Smith said, "The last anybody heard, Stacia was married with children and living in Hamburg with her husband Roy Dyke, formerly of Ashton Gardner & Dyke."  However, on the Hawkwind fanpage starfarer.net, it's said that Stacia did some modeling and is now living in Ireland and working as an artist.  But, in a 2002 interview with Hawkwind guitarist Dave Brock, he stated that he was in contact with her and that she was married and living in the United States.

Stacia (full name Stacia Blake), born December 26, 1952 in Ireland, was a dancer for the English rock group Hawkwind.

Career

Hawkwind in the seventies was regarded as the alternative society's standard bearers, heavily chemically-influenced, and always willing to play benefit concerts and free gigs. Stacia was living in the Devon area in the early 1970's and ran away from home, sleeping rough on the beaches. She attended Hawkwind's gigs in the region and after one of them , she went backstage and asked if she could dance. They jokingly said "sure, providing you take off all your clothes." The band were quite surprised when she actually did! After this, she began to perform regularly at their gigs in the West Country, joining the band in 1971 and immediately became an integral part of the group.

Stacia was six feet tall by the age of 21, and had a 42-inch bust[1], an attractive and imposing figure of a woman by any standard. She regarded what she did with the band as interpretive dance, and was an integral part of the early to mid-1970s Hawkwind experience, particularly during the Space Ritual era, widely considered to be the group's high point. In her later years with the group, her clothes remained on. Stacia claimed to be bisexual, and her sexual appetite was legendary.

Stacia left Hawkwind in 1975 after touring with them for the Warrior on the Edge of Time album. Her departure, along with that of Lemmy Kilmister, signaled the end of an era.

Personal life

Stacia left the band when she married drummer Roy Dyke of the band Ashford, Gardner and Dyke, in 1975. Subsequently, she lived in Hamburg for a while and apparently did some modeling. She is now living in Ireland and working as an artist. The writer of this edit can confirm this. I e-mailed her and asked if she was, indeed, the same Stacia.
