Holly Sonders is an American TV presenter and co-host. She joined Golf Channel in January 2011, providing tournament and news updates as well as the top headlines of the day at the bottom of the hour during Morning Drive. Sonders comes to Golf Channel from KATV in Little Rock, Arkansas, where she was a news and sports reporter. Sonders also served as a sideline reporter for the Big Ten Network during the 2009 season.
An Ohio native, Sonders began her career at WBNS-10 TV in Columbus working on “The Average Joe Sports Show,” a live, weekly television show that covered statewide athletics on the high school and collegiate levels. A graduate of Michigan State University with a degree in Communications, Sonders was a four-year member of the MSU Women's Golf Team and helped the Lady Spartans to a Big Ten Championship in 2007. She was an accomplished college golfer who shelved her driver for a microphone after graduating from Michigan State in 2009. She has since become one of golf's most recognizable television personalities.
Among her accolades: two American Junior Golf Association wins, reaching the round of 16 at the 2007 Women's Western Amateur and helping Michigan State win the 2007 Big Ten Championship.
Early Life
She played baseball and basketball on boys teams until high school, where she was a four-year starting point guard on the girls basketball team. In college, gym work helped her gain 15 pounds of muscle and drive the ball 260 yards. But after major knee surgery, she turned her attention to broadcasting.
Personal Life
Fitness and athletics always have been a part of Sonders' life.
