Jessica Rose James Decker is an American country pop singer and songwriter, Reality television participant, and Entrepreneur. She is best known for her singles "Wanted" and "Lights Down Low." She is also known for starring in the E! reality show Eric & Jessie: Game On with her husband, NFL wide receiver Eric Decker.
Early Life
Decker was born on an U.S. Air Force base in Vincenza, Italy, where her father was stationed at the time. Decker returned stateside in the early 2000s and graduated from high school in Georgia. Decker began singing when she was two. She won her first talent contest in Baker, Louisiana, at age nine, singing "I Want to Be a Cowboy's Sweetheart". By then, she had already been writing songs on a plastic guitar and had performed at SeaWorld and in Warner Robins, Georgia in 2000. At age fifteen, she made weekly trips to Nashville to hone her songwriting skills. At seventeen, Decker was introduced to Carla Wallace of independent label Big Yellow Dog Music, who helped her with her songwriting and singing. One of her songs, "Gypsy Girl", was written with two writers from Yellow Dog and made it into the hands of record executive David Massey, who brought her to the attention of L.A. Reid. She auditioned for Reid by singing her song "My Cowboy", produced by John Rich. Decker soon signed a contract with Mercury Records.[2]
Recording Career
Her debut eponymous album was released in August 2009, debuting at number 23 on the Billboard 200. It was a fusion between country and pop music, with more emphasis placed on the latter as dictated by Mercury/Island Def Jam. The album also featured writing credits from Decker and seasoned pop songwriter Kara DioGuardi and Mitch Allan, among others. The album received mixed receptions from critics. The album's first single, "Wanted," peaked at #40 on the Billboard Hot 100 and was later certified Gold.
Decker began working on her second album, Sweet American Dreams, in 2010, which was initially planned to be released in late summer. The first single, "Boys in the Summer" was released in June 2010, and was a minor country success but failed to chart on the Billboard Hot 100. Subsequent singles were released over the next 3 years but failed to produce any major success. Decker renegotiated her contract and image with her record label and asked to be marketed less as a pop act and more as a country act. After negotiations, Mark Massey of Mercury asked Mark Wright from Show Dog-Universal Music, which had facilitated the country release of "Boys in the Summer" in November 2010, to help Mercury/IDJ launch Decker in the country genre. She was then released from Show Dog-Universal in 2013 after two more songs failed to chart. Decker followed the release of her contract with Mercury with an EP called Comin' Home in 2014 on 19 Recordings. She returned to Big Yellow Dog Records and recorded her own composition "Lights Down Low" and released it as a single in August 2015. It barely cracked the Top 40 Country singles chart but charted at #15 on the Country Digital singles chart. Decker added a full-length Christmas album on Big Yellow Dog in December.
In April 2016, Decker appeared on former Hinder lead singer Austin John's debut solo EP Love Sick Radio, on the track "Howlin'". She finished a brief tour behind the "Lights Down Low" single and signed a new major-label deal with Epic Records. In February 2017, she released the 5-song EP, Gold, which charted at #33 on the Billboard 200 and #7 on the Billboard Country Albums chart. The album sold just 17,800 copies. She followed it up with the Blackbird Sessions EP in October 2017, which included 4 pop covers. After several years of delays, Decker's second full-length album, Southern Girl City Lights, finally was released in October 2017. The album's release coincided with the third and final season of her reality television series with her husband Eric & Jessie: Game On, which ended on October 25th. The album debuted at #1 on the Billboard Country Album chart and #18 on the Billboard 200. The single "Flip My Hair" was the only song on the album to receive chart success, going to #23 on the Country digital singles chart.
A Christmas album and several non-album singles have followed since 2018 with little chart success, including a re-make of the pop hit "Old Town Road." On September 18, 2020 Decker gave ET an update after signing a new record deal with Atlantic/Warner music in January. She revealed that while she was supposed to go on tour with new music in the summer of 2020, it got postponed due to the pandemic.[3]

Other Career Opportunities
Decker launched a clothing line called Kittenish online in 2018. Kittenish opened its first physical location in February 2019 in Nashville, Tennessee, with a second one following it in Destin, Florida. In May 2021, Decker revealed that she had a breast augmentation after finishing breastfeeding her third child by showing a picture of a newly designed bikini from her clothing line on Instagram.[4][1] Decker released her first cookbook in September 2020 called Just Feed Me. It was a New York Times bestseller upon its release. It is a follow up to her 2018 lifestyle book Just Jessie: My Guide to Love, Life, Family, and Food.
