Merle's photo also appeared in the upper right hand corner of the front cover of the January 1963 issue of Playboy Magazine.
Pertile grew up in Indiana and Illinois and later moved to Los Angeles, where she became a contract player with Universal Pictures and had guest spots on several TV shows. Pertile graduated from Hammond High School in Hammond, Indiana in 1959.
