Malinda Williams (born December 3, 1975) is an American actress. She is perhaps best known for her portrayal of hair stylist Tracy "Bird" Van Adams on the Showtime television drama Soul Food.

Williams was born in Elizabeth, New Jersey. She grew up in Westfield, New Jersey and attended Union County College in Elizabeth, New Jersey. Williams was married to actor Mekhi Phifer and the two share a son together named Omikaye. The couple is now divorced. She is married to DJ and former Boogie Down Productions member and solo artist D-Nice.[1] They wed on August 23, 2008. She resides in Westfield, New Jersey.[2]

Williams, who studied at The Actor's Conservatory in New York City, has appeared in several television shows such as The Cosby Show, Sister, Sister and Moesha. She has also starred in several movies including, Sunset Park, High School High, The Wood and the OutKast produced movie Idlewild. She appeared in the 2008 feature film First Sunday, starring actor/rapper Ice Cube, Tracy Morgan and Katt Williams. Her most notable role was starring in the Showtime series Soul Food as the younger sister, Tracy "Bird" Van Adams. In 2003 and 2004, Malinda was nominated for an NAACP Image Award for Outstanding Actress in a Drama Series for Soul Food. The Soul Food series is now being shown in repeat on BET. In 2000 Malinda Williams was nominated for Best Actress (Theatrical) for the 1999 film The Wood at the 2000 Black Reel Awards.
Williams has also appeared as the lead role in music videos for R&B group Ruff Endz("Someone to Love") and rapper Young Buck's "Shorty Wanna Ride". In 2005, Malinda started her lingerie line, Modern Goddess, which is designed by the actress and is also available to buy online at moderngoddess.net
Mekhi Phifer portrayed Lem (Bird's husband) in the 1997 film Soul Food. In an interesting twist, the woman he would marry in real life two years later, Malinda Williams, was cast as "Bird" in the 2000 television series based on the movie.
