Candy Loving was attending the University of Oklahoma as a journalism major when, in 1978, she submitted her photo to ''Playboy's'' 25th Anniversary Great Playmate Hunt. Her husband, Ron Prather, urged her to compete for the anniversary issue. <br />

Upon winning, she became part of a whirlwind promotional tour that included a second pictorial for the August 1979 issue. Hugh Hefner has credited Candy with helping to revitalize the image of the Playmate as the "girl next door." <br />

She eventually earned her bachelor's degree and pursued a graduate degree in human relations. She moved to Florida in 1984 and still lives there with her husband and daughter.
