Quick version:
* <nowiki>[[Category:1973 births]]</nowiki> will sort by whatever the page name is, so, for example, "Random Model" would go under R.
* <nowiki>[[Category:1973 births|some text here]]</nowiki> will sort by "some text here". If the article is titled "Random Model" but you want to sort with "Model," enter <nowiki>[[Category:1973 births|Model, Random]]</nowiki>. [[User:The Honorable|The Honorable]] 14:38, 25 October 2006 (PDT)

:i tried this on the [[Brittany Andrews]] page. i guess it's done by using <nowiki>[[Category:1973 births]]</nowiki> and have the category page sort by the B in the page name, instead of the <nowiki>[[Category:1973 births|lastname, firstname]]</nowiki> we were using before. i believe sorting by first name is better. for example, Karma (Karma Nera, Karma Rosenburg, among other aliases). she is usually credited as simply Karma, and both of her last names are both used about equally. if she's sorted by N as Karma Nera, someone who only knows her as Karma, or Karma Rosenburg, wouldn't know to look for her under N. if you agree, i'll start to edit pages to have them sorted by first name in category pages.
