Ingrid Chauvin (born 3 October 1973, Argenteuil, Val-d'Oise) is a French actress known for her roles in the miniseries Méditerranée, Dolmen, and the series Femmes de loi.

Early life

Ingrid was born to a lifeguard father and a painter mother. Despite her parents' opposition, Ingrid sought to be an actress since she was a child. After her studies, she worked as a professional make-up artist while attending some castings for models. Her first successes allowed her to take acting classes. She was noticed by AB Production, which lead to small roles in TV for young viewers, like the series Salut les Musclés, Seconde B, Les Années fac, Le Miel et les abeilles, L'École des passions and Studio des artistes.

Acting career

Theater

It was in the theatre that Ingrid got a serious start in her career, acting alongside Michel Creton in A. R. Gurney's Sylvia in 1998, in the Théâtre Hébertot in Paris and then opposite Michel Roux in Patrick Cargill's Tromper n'est pas joué in the Théâtre Saint-Georges in Paris. She revived these roles in a tour through the French countryside. Chauvin is due to star in a comedy with her partner, Natacha Amal in the series Femmes de lois.

Television

In 1997, Chauvin participated in an episode of Michael Vianney's prime time TV series Les Bœuf-carottes, and has since become a regular presence in the police drama series. She also appeared in Marc Angelos's B.R.I.G.A.D. in 1999, and then accepted a role in the police drama Femmes de loi, in 2000. She also made an appearance in TV movies like Tapage nocturne and Le fil du rasoir (both Gérard Cuq's). The young actress chose to continue this in this vein, abandoning her role in B.R.I.G.A.D..

Consequently, she has enjoyed a successful career in TV movies such as Yves Boisset's Dormir avec le diable, in 2000. The following year, Ingrid played Marie Valbonne in Henri Helman's Méditerranée—the proeminent summer series of TF1. In 2005, she returned to the world of summer sagas, on TF1, playing the lead in the six-episode fantasy/police-miniseries Dolmen, directed by Didier Albert. In 2007, Ingrid was set to appear in a Dolmen sequel, as well as in the TV movie Chassé-croisé.

Cinema

She played the leading role in Gérard Cuq's 1999 movie, Les Percutés.
