Suspenders is a North American term for a garment usually worn to prevent trousers from slipping down the hips. They are also used by non-nude models to provide a minimal nipple coverage and by busty adult models to accentuate the breasts by the achieved squeezing effect. In Europe, this garment is known as braces.

Somewhat confusingly, in Europe suspenders — along with the more colloquial sussies — refers to the straps and suspender belt worn to hold up stockings while in North America this garment is known as a garter belt.
