 Early Life
Sarandon was born in New York City in 1946 to a family of Roman Catholics. Sarandon was raised in New Jersey, where she graduated from Edison High School in 1964. In 1968, Sarandon graduated from the Catholic University of America, earning a BA in drama. At the university, Saranton met her first future husband, Chris.
In 1969, Sarandon landed her first major role in the 1970 film Joe. Five years later, she appeared in the cult favorite The Rocky Horror Picture Show. That same year, she also played the female lead in The Great Waldo Pepper, opposite Robert Redford. Her most controversial film appearance was in The Hunger in 1983, a modern vampire story which turned out to be a critical and box office flop. However, Sarandon did not become a "household name" until her breakthrough in the 1988 film Bull Durham, which became a huge commercial and critical success.
During her career, Sarandon has guest-starred in The Simpsons, Friends, Malcolm in the Middle, Rescue Me, Saturday Night Live, Mad TV and Chappelle's Show.
 Personal Life
Sarandon met her first husband Chris Sarandon at their time in college, they got married on September 16, 1967. They divorced in 1979. Sarandon chose to keep her married name, and use it as her stage name. In the mid-1980s, Sarandon dated director Franco Amurri, with whom she had a daughter in 1985, actress Eva Amurri. In 1986, Sarandon began dating actor Tim Robbins. The couple split up in 2009. The couple have two sons: Jack Henry (born 1989) and Miles Guthrie (born 1992).
In recent years, tabloids suggested that Sarandon had plastic surgery such as botox and breast implants, but Sarandon denied those rumors by claiming that she has natural looks. ""I think it's mostly my kids who keep me young" said Sarandon in an interview with People magazine, she also added that she does regular cardio and weight training.
Sarandon has been a supporter of liberal political causes. Sarandon has expressed support for the homosexual community. She has been an activist against the 2003 Iraq War. In 1999, Sarandon was appointed as an UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador.
