Jodhi Meares (born Jodie Kayla Meares, 24 March 1971) is an Australian fashion designer, former glamour model, and television personality.

Early life

Jodie Meares was born to pubowner John Meares and his wife Denise on 24 March 1971 in Merimbula. The couple split up when Jodie was two years old. After, the family moved to Sydney, where she developed an interest in glamour modelling at the age of 14. Once in Sydney, Jodie attended Brigidine College Randwick for her high school years.

Career

Meares took her first steps into the spotlight when she was chosen as a Moove milk model, aged 16. In 1992 she sang in the band Euphoria, for which she wrote the song "Karma". Meares later made her name as a glamour model, before establishing her own swimwear label Tigerlily Swimwear.

Meares is an occasional reporter for the Nine Network's travel show Getaway. She has also appeared 3 times on the Nine Network's clip show "20 to 1"

She was the host for FOX8's Australia's Next Top Model in 2007 and 2008, taking over from Erika Heynatz, and joining the likes of international hosts Lisa Snowdon (UK) and creator Tyra Banks (US). In both of those seasons, the models have appeared in advertisements for Meares's former swimsuit line, Tigerlilly. Meares's tenure was not widely regarded; critics and fans of the show were shocked that a glamour model was to host a search for High Fashion models.

Personal life

On October 23, 1999, she married Kerry Packer's son James Packer. The heir to the Packer media fortune and the former swimsuit model were married in the spring, in a storybook wedding that cost more than A$10 million. Pop singer Elton John sang and 750 guests enjoyed a party at the Bellevue Hill compound of James's father, Kerry Packer. His wife, Ros, called it "the wedding of the decade."

In April 2002, Meares (then Jodie Packer) changed the spelling of her name to "Jodhi". In June 2002, Jodhi and Packer announced their separation, and later divorced.

Controversy

In 2008, Meares decided not to attend the live finale of Australia's Next Top Model. Meares reportedly "freaked out at the last minute" and failed to turn up for her hosting duties on the night. However, she pulled out with enough time for Channel Nine's A Current Affair and Channel Seven's Today Tonight to prepare a story about her non-attendance, as well as for Charlotte Dawson to be fully prepared and rehearsed to host the evening. In the following season of Australia's Next Top Model, Sarah Murdoch replaced Meares as host.

In July 2008 it was reported that Meares is becoming deeply involved with the controversial Church of Scientology to deal with her separation from ex-husband James Packer.
