[edit] Work
Alina's first contact with photography was in 1998,[2] when a schoolmate who was attending a university photography course asked her to model for him.[1] This event influenced her further career in two ways: One one hand, she sent the photos made by her friend to model agencies and was cast for fashion and advertisement shoots. On the other hand, she got interested in taking pictures herself, built up a small studio at home and started photographing friends, relatives, neighbours and her sister. With these photos, she applied at the University of Wuppertal and was given one of the 30 places in communications design, asserting herself against 400 competitors.[1]
[edit] Model
In 2004, during her studies, she worked as an assistant to photographer Thomas Rusch in Paris[2] and was also photographed by him. The pictures were later published on the website of Katja Ehrhardt.
Apart from this, Alina did a considerable number of fine art self-portraits, mainly for her diploma thesis Alinka Pandora. Many of these pictures can be seen on her website alinkas self portraits.
[edit] Photographer
In 2006, Alina graduated from the University of Wuppertal with a diploma in communications design.[2] Since then, she works as a freelance photographer[3] as well as a photo editor and press relations manager for the German online culture magazine Musenblätter.[2]
The main goal of her photographic work is to show beauty - which can also be defined by bizarre elements. Fashion and men as well as the technique just serve as a means to one end: the emotinal portrayal of women.[4]
